নয়াদিল্লি: আমেরিকার প্রেসিডেন্ট নির্বাচিত হলেন ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প (Donald Trump)। মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট নির্বাচনের পাশাপাশি দেশটির পার্লামেন্টের অনেক আসনেও নির্বাচন চলেছে। হাউস অফ রিপ্রেজেন্টেটিভের নির্বাচনে ছয় ভারতীয় আমেরিকান (Indian Americans) জয়ী হয়েছেন, বর্তমানে তাঁদের সংখ্যা পাঁচ থেকে বেড়েছে। ভারতীয়-আমেরিকান আইনজীবী সুহাস সুব্রমণ্যম ভার্জিনিয়া এবং ইস্ট কোস্ট থেকে কংগ্রেসে নির্বাচিত প্রথম ভারতীয় আমেরিকান হিসেবে ইতিহাস সৃষ্টি করেছেন।
এই জয়ের সঙ্গে সুহাস ভারতীয়দের সামোসা ককাসের একটি অংশ হয়ে উঠেছেন, যেখানে পাঁচটি ভারতীয়-আমেরিকান দল রয়েছে। এর মধ্যে রয়েছেন অমি বেরা, রাজা কৃষ্ণমূর্তি, রো খান্না, প্রমিলা জয়পাল এবং শ্রী থানাদার। বর্তমান পাঁচজন ভারতীয় আমেরিকান সদস্যই প্রতিনিধি পরিষদে পুনঃনির্বাচিত হয়েছেন। দেখুন-
