জিএসটি সংস্কার ভারতীয় অর্থনীতিকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে, এমনই দাবি করলেন কেন্দ্রীয় প্রতিমন্ত্রী ডঃ সুকান্ত মজুমদার। জিএসটি সংস্কার প্রসঙ্গে শুক্রবার সকালে সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের উত্তরে সুকান্ত বলেছেন, "এই সাফল্য ভারতীয় অর্থনীতিকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। অর্থনীতি গতি পাবে এবং সাধারণ মানুষ উপকৃত হবেন। কর হার, যা মূলত ১২% ছিল, এখন ৫%-এ কমিয়ে আনা হয়েছে।"

মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলার সামশেরগঞ্জে পুনর্বাসন প্রদানে রাজ্য সরকারের এত সময় লাগছে কেন জানতে চাইলে বলেন, "রাজ্য পুনর্বাসন প্রদান করতে চায় না। সামশেরগঞ্জে হিন্দুদের বাড়িঘর ধ্বংস করা হয়েছে এবং তৃণমূলের কাউন্সিলর, বিধায়ক এবং দলীয় সদস্যরা এই ঘটনায় জড়িত ছিলেন। স্বাভাবিকভাবেই, মনে হচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার চায় না, হিন্দুরা সেখানে বসবাস চালিয়ে যাক।"
