জল কমছে ঝিলম (Jhelum River) নদীতে। ক্রমাগত জল কমছে জম্মু কাশ্মীরের এই নদীতে। ফলে যে কোনও সময় কাশ্মীর-সহ (Jammu And Kashmir) গোটা উপত্যকার মানুষ জলের কষ্টের সম্মুখীন হতে পারেন। খাবার জল থেকে ব্যবহারযোগ্য জল, ঝিলমের প্রবাহ কমায় সব ধরনের কষ্টের সম্মুখীন কাশ্মীরের মানুষ হতে পারেন বলে আশঙ্কা। স্থানীয়দের কথায়, যে ধরনের আবহাওয়া বর্তমানে চলছে,তার জেরেই ঝিলম নদীতে জল কমছে। সেই সঙ্গে নদীর নাব্যতা কমছে। বহুদিন নদী থেকে পলি সরানো হয় না। পলি জমে নদীর নাব্যতা যেমন কমছে, জলের প্রবাহেও টান ধরেছে।
