অলিভ রিডলি টার্টেলস। একেবারে বিরল প্রজাতির সাতটি কচ্ছপকে তামিলনাড়ুর উপকুল থেকে উদ্ধার করে উপকুলরক্ষা বাহিনী। মায়নমার সীমান্তের পাশ থেকে রাখা এক বিশেষভাবে বানানো জালের মধ্যে আটকে পড়েছিল কচ্ছপগুলি। খুব সম্ভবত চোরাচালানের জন্যই জাল পেতে কচ্ছপগুলিকে ধরার ফাঁদ পাতা হয়েছিল। সেই পরিকল্পনা ভেস্তে কচ্ছপগুলিকে উদ্ধার করে ভারতীয় উপকুলরক্ষী বাহিনী।
১৯৭২ সালে তৈরি ভারতের ওয়াইল্ডলাইফ সুরক্ষা আইনে অলিভ রিডলি টার্টেলসকে বিপন্ন তালিকায় রাখা হয়।
