প্রতি বছরই বর্ষায় ডেঙ্গুর (Dengue) প্রকোপ মাত্রাতিরিক্ত হারে বৃদ্ধি পায়। বৃষ্টির জল জমা জায়গা ডেঙ্গু মশার আঁতুড়ঘর। বাংলাদেশের স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রক (Bangladesh Ministry of Health) দ্বারা প্রকাশিত পরিসংখ্যান অনুযায়ী চলতি বছরে ডেঙ্গু জ্বরে মারা গিয়েছে ৮০০ জনের বেশি। সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত সে দেশে মোট ডেঙ্গু আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা ১ লক্ষ ৬৪ হাজার ৫৬২। শনিবার স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রকের অধীনে স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবার মহাপরিচালকের প্রকাশিত তথ্যে দেখা যাচ্ছে, ডেঙ্গুতে মৃত্যু হওয়া ৮০৪ জনের মধ্যে সেপ্টেম্বরে ২১১, অগাস্টে ৩৪২ এবং জুলাইয়ে ২০৪ জন মারা গিয়েছে। সংক্রমণের নিরিখে সেপ্টেম্বরে ডেঙ্গু আক্রান্ত হয়েছে ৪০ হাজার ৭৫৪, অগাস্টে সংখ্যাটি ছিল প্রায় দ্বিগুণ ৭১ হাজার ৯৭৬ এবং জুলাইয়ে ৪৩ হাজার ৮৫৪।
