অভিশপ্ত ৭ অক্টোবর হামাস জঙ্গি সংগঠনের নজিরবিহীন আক্রমণে রক্তাক্ত হয় ইজরায়েল। সীমান্তের তার ছিঁড়ে, আকাশপথে বর্ডার পেরিয়ে, সমুদ্র পেরিয়ে ইজরায়েলে ঢুকে পড়েছিল হামাস বাহিনী। তাদের লক্ষ্য ছিল ইজরায়েলিদের দেখলেই গুলি করে হত্যা করা। সেই মত হামাসের আড়াই হাজারের জঙ্গি যেখানেই ইজরায়েলিদের দেখেছে গুলি করেছে। হামাসের আক্রমণে শিশু, মহিলা, বৃদ্ধ-বৃদ্ধা সহ বহু সাধারণ মানুষ মারা যান। আজ, শনিবার প্রকাশিত তথ্য অনুযায়ী হামাসের আক্রমণে ইজরায়েলিদের মৃত্যু সংখ্যা ১ হাজার ৪০০ ছাড়িয়ে গেল। জখম এখনও ৩০০।
