দ্বিতীয় দফার ভোটের আগে এবার গোত্র কার্ড খেললেন মমতা বন্দ্যাপাধ্যায় (Mamata Banerjee)। নন্দীগ্রামে(Nandigram) প্রচারে গিয়ে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন, প্রচারে বেরিয়ে তিনি মন্দিরে পুজো দিতে গিয়েছিলেন সম্প্রতি। ওই সময় তাঁর গোত্র কী, সে বিষয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করা হয়। যার উত্তরে তিনি নিজের গোত্র হিসেবে 'মা-মাটি মানুষের' উল্লেখ করেন। আসলে তিনি 'শাণ্ডিল্য' কিন্তু নিজেকে মা-মাটি-মানুষ গোত্রের প্রতিনিধি বলে দাবি করেন বলে জানান মমতা।
