টুইটে তিনি লেখেন, "পিলিভিটে ৩ দিন থাকার পর আমার উপসর্গ দেখা দেয়। পরে কোভিড টেস্ট করি। সেই রিপোর্ট পজিটিভ এসেছে। আমার জোরাল উপসর্গ রয়েছে। আমরা এখন তৃতীয় ঢেউ এবং একটি নির্বাচনী প্রচারের মাঝখানে আছি। প্রার্থী এবং রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদেরও বুস্টার ডোজ দেওয়া উচিত।"
করোনাভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হলেন বিজেপি সাংসদ বরুণ গান্ধী। টুইট করে নিজেই একথা জানিয়েছেন তিনি। বিজেপি নেতা জানিয়েছেন যে নিজের লোকসভা কেন্দ্র পিলিভিট সফরের সময় তিনি সংক্রমিত হয়েছেন।

After being in Pilibhit for 3 days, I have tested positive for COVID with fairly strong symptoms.
We are now in the middle of a third wave and an election campaign.
The Election Commission should extend precautionary doses to candidates and political workers as well.
