শনিবার দুপুরে ভয়াবহ অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটল অসমের শিলচরে (Silchar)। জানা যাচ্ছে একটি বিল্ডিংয়ে আচমকাই আগুন লাগে। প্রাণে বাঁচতে এক তরুণী আগুনের আতঙ্কে বিল্ডিং থেকে ঝাঁপ দেন। তাঁকে স্থানীয়রা উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করান। এই মুহূর্তে তাঁর অবস্থা সঙ্কটজনক। জানা যাচ্ছে, ঘটনাস্থলে দমকলের ৫ ইঞ্জিন এসে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে এনেছে। বিল্ডিংয়ের কিছু কিছু জায়গায় এখনও আগুন জ্বলছে, আপাতত সেগুলি নেভানোর কাজ করছে দমকল কর্মীরা। যদিও বিল্ডিংয়ের মধ্যে কেউ আটকে রয়েছে কিনা তা এখনও জানা যায়নি।
