দেশভাগের যন্ত্রণাকে মনে রাখতে ভারতে প্রতি বছর ১৪ অগাস্ট 'দেশভাগ ভয়াবহতা স্মরণ দিবস' পালন করা হবে। আজ এই ঘোষণা করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী। টুইটে তিনি লেখেন,"দেশভাগের যন্ত্রণা কখনও ভোলা যায় না। আমাদের লক্ষ লক্ষ বোন ও ভাইরা ভিটেছাড়া হয়েছিলেন। অনেকে বিবেকহীন ঘৃণা ও হিংসার কারণে তাঁদের জীবন হারিয়েছিলেন। আমাদের মানুষদের সংগ্রাম এবং আত্মত্যাগের স্মরণে ১৪ অগাস্টকে 'দেশভাগ ভয়াবহতা স্মরণ দিবস' হিসাবে পালন করা হবে।
