জাপানে ভয়াবহ ভূমিকম্পের জেরে এখনও পর্যন্ত নিহতের সংখ্যা দাঁড়াল ১০০। ঘটনায় নিখোঁজের সংখ্যা দাঁড়িয়েছে ২১১ জন। নতুন বছরের শুরুতেই ভয়াবহ ভূমিকম্পে কেঁপে ওঠে জাপান। রিখটার স্কেলে ভূমিকম্পের তীব্রতার পরিমান ছিল ৭.৫।
তীব্রতার জেরে বাড়িঘর ভেঙে পড়ে বিভিন্ন জায়গায়, আগুন লেগে যায়। যুদ্ধকালীন তৎপরতায় উদ্ধারকার্য শুরু করা হয় জাপানে।
