বাংলার ৪২টি আসনের মধ্যে একটি মাত্র প্রার্থীর নাম ঘোষণা করা বাকি ছিল বিজেপির। ডায়মন্ড হারবার কেন্দ্রে অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের (Abhishek Banerjee) বিরুদ্ধে কাকে বিজেপি প্রার্থী করবে সেই ঘোষণার অপেক্ষায় ছিল সকলে। শেষমেশ জল্পনার অবসান ঘটিয়ে সোমবার ১২'তম প্রার্থী তালিকায় ডায়মন্ড হারবার (Diamond Harbour) কেন্দ্র থেকে প্রার্থীর নাম ঘোষণা করল মোদীর দল। চব্বিশের লোকসভা নির্বাচনে (Lok Sabha Elections 2024) হাইভোল্টেজ ডায়মন্ড হারবার কেন্দ্রে তৃণমূলের অভিষেকের বিরুদ্ধে বিজেপির হয়ে লড়বেন অভিজিৎ দাস ওরফে ববি। ২০১৪ সালে অভিষেকের বিরুদ্ধে লড়ে ৫ লক্ষ ভোটের ব্যবধানে পরাজিত হয়েছিলেন।
