দু'দুটো বিশ্বকাপে জয় অধরা থেকে যাওয়ার পর অবশেষে জয় পেল অস্ট্রেলিয়া ফুটবল দল। শনিবার কাতার বিশ্বকাপে গ্রুপ লিগে তাদের দ্বিতীয় ম্যাচে অজিরা ১-০ গোলে হারাল তিউনিসিয়াকে। শেষবার অস্ট্রেলিয়া বিশ্বকাপে জিতেছিল ২০১০ বিশ্বকাপে সার্বিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে। অস্ট্রেলিয়ার জয়ের পর গোটা দেশজুড়ে মানুষ খুশিতে ফেটে পড়েন।
গোলের পর মেলবোর্ন, সিডনির রাস্তায় আনন্দে ফেটে পড়েন অজিরা। কাতারে প্রথম ম্যাচে ফ্রান্সের কাছে ১-৪ গোলে হেরেছিল অজিরা। এবার শেষ ম্যাচে ডেনমার্কের বিরুদ্ধে খেলবে এএফসি থেকে বিশ্বকাপের মূলপর্বে খেলা অস্ট্রেলিয়া।
