অসমের জোরহাটের রানি চা বাগানে তিনটি হাতি বিদ্যুৎস্পৃষ্টে হয়ে মারা গেল। মৃত তিন হাতিটির মধ্যে একটি মা ও তার দুই সন্তান ছিল। সুপারি গাছ ভাঙার চেষ্টা করছিল তিনটি হাতি। কিন্তু তার পাশ দিয়েই ছিল হাইভোল্টেজ ইলেকট্রিক লাইন। হাতি তিনটি সুপারি গাছের পাশে থাকা হাইভোল্টেজ ইলেকট্রিক লাইনে লেগে মারা যায়। গুয়াহাটি থেকে ২০ কিলোমিটার দূরে এই র্মমান্তিক দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে।
