Pope Leo XIV: মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রবার্ট ফ্রান্সিস প্রেভোস্ট ভ্যাটিকানে নতুন পোপ নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন। নিয়ম মত পোপ নির্বাচিত হওয়ার পর তার আগের জীবনের নাম সরিয়ে নিজের নতুন নাম দিয়েছেন রবার্ট প্রেভোস্ট ( Robert Francis Prevost )। তাঁর নতুন নাম পোপ লিও চতুর্দশ। গতকাল, ভ্যাটিকানের সিস্টিন চ্যাপেলের ভোটদান প্রক্রিয়া শেষে এই প্রথমবার কোনও মার্কিনীর নাম পোপ হিসেবে ঘোষমা করা হয়েছিল। রোমান ক্যাথলিক চার্চের প্রধান রবার্ট ফ্রান্সিস প্রিভোস্ট-কে শুভেচ্ছা জানালেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী।
এক্স প্ল্যাটফর্মে পোপ চতুর্দশ লিও-কে শুভেচ্ছাবার্তায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদী লিখলেন, "ভারতীয়দের পক্ষ থেকে পবিত্র পোপ চতুর্দশ লিওকে জানাই শুভ কামনা। তাঁর নেতৃত্বে ক্যাথলিক চার্চ দুনিয়ায় শান্তি, সম্প্রতি, সৌহার্দ্য এবং সেবার কাদ এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। ভারত পবিত্র পোপের মূল্যবোধকে আরও এগিয়ে নিতে ক্রমাগত আলোচনা ও সম্পৃক্ততার প্রতি প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ রয়েছে।"
