পাচার হওয়ার আগে কাস্টমস (Customs) অফিসারদের হাতে ধরা পড়ল ৪০০ কেজি ওজনের গাঁজা (Ganja)। যার আনুমানিক বাজারমূল্য ৬০ লক্ষ টাকা। জানা যাচ্ছে, পুডুকোট্টাই জেলার মিমিসাল বিচের কাছে ইরাল পান্নাই এলাকা থেকে উদ্ধার হয়েছে এই বিপুল পরিমানের মাদক। রবিবার রাতে ত্রিচের কেন্দ্রীয় গোয়েন্দা বিভাগ (Trichy Central Intelligence Division) ওই এলাকায় তল্লাশি শুরু করে, তখনই এই বেআইনি মাদকগুলি উদ্ধার হয়। পুলিশ সূত্রের খবর, ওই গ্রাম থেকে এই মাদকগুলি শ্রীলঙ্কায় পাচার করার পরিকল্পনা ছিল। তবে শেষমুহূর্তে তদন্তকারী আধিকারিকরা গিয়ে তা বাজেয়াপ্ত করে। তবে এই ঘটনায় এখনও কেউ গ্রেফতার হয়নি।
