দেশের পরবর্তী প্রধান বিচারপতি হিসেবে বিচারপতি ধনঞ্জয় ওয়াই চন্দ্রচূড়ের (Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud) নাম কেন্দ্রের কাছে প্রস্তাব করলেন সুপ্রিম কোর্টের প্রধান বিচারপতি উদয় উমেশ ললিত (Justice Uday Umesh Lalit)।যদি কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার এই প্রস্তাব মেনে নেয় তাহলে আগামী দু'বছরের জন্য (১০ নভেম্বর ২০২৪) দেশের পরবর্তী প্রধান বিচারপতি তথা দেশের ৫০ তম প্রধান বিচারপতি হবেন বিচারপতি ধনঞ্জয় ওয়াই চন্দ্রচূড়।
