বহুদিন ধরে মুক্তির জন্য আটকে রয়েছে ছবিটি। অবশেষে মুক্তির দিন ঘোষণা হল কৌশিক গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়ের ছবি 'লক্ষ্মী ছেলে'র। ডক্টর'স ডে এবং রথযাত্রার শুভদিনে শিবপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায় ও নন্দিতা রায়ের প্রযোজনা সংস্থা উইনডোজ প্রোডাকশনের তরফে জানানো হয় 'লক্ষ্মী ছেলে' মুক্তি পাবে আগামী ২৬ অগস্ট। ছবির কেন্দ্রীয় ভূমিকায় রয়েছেন কৌশিক পুত্র উজান গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়।
