গোয়া এবং কর্ণাটকের কারওয়ার মাঝে সমুদ্রে প্রায় হারিয়ে যেতে বসেছিল ভারতের একটি রিসার্চ শিপ অর্থাৎ যে জাহাজে বিজ্ঞানীরা ছিলেন। যান্ত্রিক গোলযোগের জেরে ৩৬ জন যাত্রীকে নিয়ে মাঝ সমুদ্রে ঘুরপাক খাচ্ছিল জাহাজটি। যে জাহাজে ৮ জন বিজ্ঞানী ছিলেন। খবর পেতেই রিসার্চ শিপটিকে উদ্ধারের জন্য হাজির হয় ভারতীয় উপকূলরক্ষী বাহিনী। অবেক প্রচেষ্টার পর শেষ পর্যন্ত ভারতের রিসার্চ শিপটিকে উদ্ধার করে উপকূলরক্ষী বাহিনী। রিসার্চ শিপের প্রত্যেক যাত্রী সুস্থ রয়েছেন বলে জানা যাচ্ছে।
